A classic homemade burger elevated with the option of grilled pineapple and a fried egg.
Season patties with salt and pepper. Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.
If adding pineapple, grill alongside patties for the last 2-3 minutes per side, until caramelized.
Lightly toast the cut sides of the burger buns.
If adding a fried egg, fry in a separate pan until cooked to your liking.
Spread mayonnaise on both halves of the toasted buns.
Assemble the burger by layering lettuce, tomato, patty, cheese, pineapple (if using), and fried egg (if using) on the bottom bun. Top with the other bun.
For extra flavor, mix finely chopped onions or garlic into the patties before cooking.
Use a meat thermometer to ensure the patties are cooked to the desired internal temperature.
Toasting the buns prevents them from becoming soggy.
Try different cheeses for variety, such as Swiss, pepper jack, or blue cheese.
Add other toppings of your choice, such as pickles, onions, or bacon.
